Summer Once Again

As an educator, it is difficult to keep up with my own work during the school semester. Summer is a wonderful time for catching up on making art, and also updating a website! Don't let the lack of updates fool you, I have been making work through out 2010, but I surely haven't been posting my progress. For a taste of what is ahead, take a look at the photograph I am working on for my next transfer. I will keep a journal entry throughout the process from the initial photograph to the final transfer print.

A studio outside

I'm not always excited to be living in Texas in the summer, but I am thankful for my back porch when it comes time to make transfers. Early morning is the only reasonable time to be out there and I do enjoy the process.

Transfer with layers

When is it finished?

One of my professors, I can't remember which one, told our class, "The difficulty with digital photography is knowing when to stop". This transfer project is bringing up a similar problem. I am excited with the new work, but can't quite figure out the next step. More layers of paper, more colored pencil, or more glue? Still working...
